BASH Create Awards

BASH Magazine recently announced their shortlist for the first BASH Create Awards and I’m delighted to be included in the wedding stationery category. To be nominated alongside so many other talented wedding suppliers who’s work I have admired and followed for so long is truly an honour. The vintage craft of letterpress printing is a true craft and to have been recognised by BASH Magazine for producing work that is worthy of their recommendation is more than enough.

Paris Invitation - Wedding

At MAGVA Design + Letterpress each wedding invitation or stationery piece is letterpress printed the old fashioned way using either an antique platen letterpress dating form 1885 or a cylinder letterpress dating from 1929. The luxurious cotton paper is hand feed onto the platen or cylinder and then pressed against the printing plate to create each individual piece. It is a time consuming process but a craft that I absolutely love. For me what really makes the process stand out from digital or flat printing is that every piece is hand printed and unique. Small variations in impression, placement and inking can occur during any print run, but these are the characteristics of letterpress printing that make it so special.
